ABout minimbah

Since 1983, when Minimbah was first founded by parents concerned about the lack of supports for their young adults with intellectual disabilities, Minimbah has been providing quality person-centred support to meet individual needs. Minimbah is not-for-profit, registered charity and registered NDIS provider.

Much has changed over the years and Minimbah now supports around 100 children and adults at our site in Marsfield and using our fleet a disability modified vehicles to ensure appropriate and safe inclusion in our communities.

Minimbah, now has a workforce of over 90 people who have been screened and trained in delivering quality supports in accordance with National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) standards. Our team of support workers are committed to ensuring our participants are able to freely engage in their choices whilst also providing risk-managed support that promotes safety, recognising the risks of vulnerable persons. Minimbah is committed to a Zero tolerance approach to abuse, violence and neglect of all people.

Minimbah, along with much of NSW, transitioned to the NDIS in 2016. The NDIS is framed around the two concepts of “choice and control” and “reasonable and necessary”. Through the NDIS participants, and their families, are able to explore and engage in achieving the supports and activities of their choice.

Minimbah has always strived to be family focused, working together and celebrating together.

Some of Minimbah’s quality supports and activities include:

  • Cooking, food, life and home skills,

  • Music, drama, singing and the arts,

  • Craft, painting and hobbies,

  • Exercise, health and fitness,

  • Community – individual or small groups - bushwalking, parks, sailing, beaches, outdoor adventures, cafes, shopping centres and much more.
