Community Participation

Community Participation is a community and centre based service with regular community access for school leavers and young adults.

The program operates Monday to Friday for 48 weeks each year. The number of days of attendance each week depend on the level of funding received. Hours are flexible, with most clients attending between 9am and 3pm or 10am and 4pm. Holiday programs and additional days and hours, beyond those covered by the client’s funding, are available for a fee.

Community Participation at Minimbah caters to young adults and school leavers with moderate, high, very high or exceptional support needs. People with physical or sensory disabilities, autism or psychiatric disability, in addition to an intellectual disability are also welcome in the program.

Community Participation is conducted by qualified and experienced staff under the direction of Minimbah Management.

We work with each client, their family and carers to identify personal goals for engagement in the program.

The program provides opportunities to participate in flexible day programs and activities that meet individual’s goals, health and activity levels, life stage, interests and changing support needs.

The particular focus is on:

  • Activities relevant to the individual needs, interests and choices of the client.
  • Personal care to the full extent required by each individual.

The Minimbah program provides Community Participation clients with the opportunity to mix with other adults of all ages, from school leavers to people reaching retirement.
