Saturday Care Program

Saturday Care is a respite and recreational service for ten young people. The program operates on alternate Saturdays and every Saturday during the mid-year school holidays. The hours of operation are 9:30am to 4:30pm.

Saturday Care caters to young school aged people who have a severe or profound intellectual disability and need high levels of assistance with activities for daily living. Young people with physical as well as intellectual disabilities are welcome in the program. We work with each client, their family and carers to identify personal goals for engagement in Saturday Care activities.

Saturday Care is conducted by qualified and experienced staff under the direction of Minimbah Management.

Our objectives are to:

  • Provide young people with disability with a quality recreational program in a safe and supportive environment
  • Offer a wide range of community and centre based activities
  • Provide respite to families to allow for time to pursue other responsibilities

The program may also assist young people with the transition to Minimbah’s day programs after they leave school.

The Saturday Care program includes a mix of community & centre based activities:

  • Music
  • BBQ
  • Cooking
  • Sensory activities
  • Arts and crafts
  • Picnics
  • Ball games
  • Shopping
  • Bowling
  • Playground activities
  • Computers
  • Movies
  • Social outings
  • Individual activities
  • And so much more….

Saturday Care is funded by the Commonwealth Department of Families, Community Services, Housing and Indigenous Affairs. Families are asked to contribute a small fee on each day of attendance to cover activity costs.
